Power cut politics of Delhi and media

Any and everything which happens in Delhi becomes the top headlines of so call national news channels. We brought to you, how while people are suffering from this heat due to consistent power cut and there is no coverage in media (Power cut in Delhi, but no news in media!). But now, when India is facing its hottest summer so far and the temperature has marked 51 °C to break all its previous record this trend is continuing. The extreme happened today when Union Power Minister Piyush Goyal's response when his press conference faced a power cut.

Interestingly, while this forced media to not to turn their head away, they chose not to see that distribution facilities are in the hands of the Delhi's Chief minister, not Union power minister. Instead of getting back to question on failure in the distribution system by state governments, media saw this as an opportunity to show a hole in the work by the Union government.
While the massive power cuts are still continuing people are also questioning now why these power cuts are occurring only in areas when real aam aadmi's are staying while the areas where "aam aadmi party" leadership stays has no power cut.
Worst to do is while people are suffering from heat and persistent power cuts, AAP leadership and the government is busy preparing its party for election in goa. AAP IT team started by trending #AAPOnlyHope4Goa on twitter to which angry Delhiites  replied as well.

This is all happening when Arvind Kejriwal himself was questing union government for power cuts when he was not in power and Delhi was governed directly by union government due to Presidents rule.

Nehru-Gandhi dynasty: silent understnading with media

India got independence from British and the power was handed over to the person who was not only close to Mahatma Gandhi, but also to that time Britsh viceroy. Every since then the family kept ruling the country generation over generations. It is no overstatement that, the one family which reaped the fruits of India's freedom most is the Nehru family. They not only remained in power, they rewarded them themselves with India's greatest honor of Bharat Ratna as per recent RTI information, which people shared on social media.

As not everyone can visit their house to see these medal they named every important thing on the name of their family members as if its all their personal property. Currently, almost 450 government programmes, schemes, institutions etc named after three members of the Nehru-Gandhi family. Strange is that, when all this has been happing there was a sheer silence in media, which still persist. However, this close circle of family and media is breaking in this time of social media. People are asking relevance of these names in these schemes and names. Recently, Bollywood actorRishi Kapoor raised these questions on twitter

While this all is been discussed on social media and trends like #NamedAfterGandhis #NehruDynastyMuktBharat, Indian media is trying to look other way around. This understanding between the media and Nehru-Gandhi family is easy to understand but hard to digest for new emerging middle-class people who have their name and fame by hard work. It will be no surpise if more such voices are heard in the future.

Power cut in Delhi, but no news in media!

Every summer the power-cut news are common for Delhi. But, this summer is different. Not because there is less power cut, but because the power cut news is gone. It seems that the advertising budget of Delhi government is already showing its effect.

However, while mass media is sleeping on the cause, the anger of local people is spilling on the social media.

This is hidden from no one that Kejriwal Government in its budget allocated a handsome amount of Rs. 526 crores. Ever since this amount has been allocated the voice of a wide section of media has changed. In a recent RTI, it was told that Kejriwal government has already spent Rs. 15 crores in last 91 days for advertisements in print media alone. Point to noted here is that the amount does not include the amount spent  on audio-visual media which is known to be far more expensive.

Not only this money is being spent in Delhi, but it's also been expended for publishing advertisements in print media outside Delhi to an extent that advertising money was given to newspapers from far distant states from Delhi, such as Karnataka. That's a luxury on real Aam Adami money.

These expenditures are also seen as an effort to create the buzz about the party before the upcoming state elections in 2017. The Aam Aadmi Party is preparing for upcoming elections in Punjab and Goa to break the myth of being a local party of Delhi/NCR.
